Each year the Fall Classic invites approximately 180 teams (U9 thru U18) to play over two days at our 8 field sites, with the showcase age groups at our main complex, The Statesville Soccer Complex, or at the Mooresville Stadium Field.

Fall Classic Mission Statement:
The Fall Classic is committed to providing an enjoyable weekend of exciting soccer and believes it is achieved through:
Competitive Play
Quality Fields
Top Referees
Responsive Organization
Competitive Play:
Selection Process:
The Fall Classic averages over 200 applications for 180 +/- spots per year for entry into the event. Beginning on Oct 1st until October 22nd, the tournament committee will begin the process of evaluating the teams and establishing competitive brackets for each age group. The committee will give preference to the earliest registration date but will also consider:
results (... a loss to top competition is better than a win against much lesser competition)
league play and tournament competitions
rankings
The process also includes, but is not limited to, contacting other tournament directors, league administrators, state administrators, and club contacts.
Our main focus during the selection process is Competitive Play. The preferred 8 Team Brackets may be adjusted to accommodate the number of competitive teams determined for an age group. Each bracket is carefully laid out to make sure that every team’s placement gives them a chance of winning.
Quality Fields
The Fall Classic selects site locations on following criteria:
Quality of fields
Regulation size fields
Proximity from hotels
Quality Fields:
Yes, the Bermuda grass is usually brown in Carolina before Thanksgiving but the fields are well maintained and many are over sown with rye to retain that green appearance in addition to a quality playing surface. All fields are to be level, free of pot holes and within a secure location.
Regulation Size Fields:
Our commitment is to assure that all fields exceed the minimum regulation fields for the division play in addition to quality netting and goals anchored for safety.
Proximity of Hotels:
A priority of the tournament is to make sure that you have only one place to go all weekend. We try to make sure that all field sites can support at least the bracket you are in. We try our best to make sure that each field site is approximately five miles driving distance from hotel accommodations.
Top Referees
The Tournament Committee works closely with the LNSC Referee Assignor to attract the top officials in Western NC. We set certain standards and have been fortunate to have most of the same referees return each year. The feedback from teams participating each year is that the officiating is excellent. The absence of complaints received by the tournament committee gives testimony to the consistency demonstrated in officiating the games.
Responsive Organization
The Fall Classic takes steps each year to improve from the previous year the experience of those participating in our tournament and visiting the Lake Norman area. We have easily identifiable and trained staff at each location to help you with, schedules, field assignments, scores, where to eat and what to see and do while you are in the Lake Norman area.
Entry Fees:
$400 for U9-U10
$450 for U11-U12
$550 for U13- U18
