Lake Norman Soccer Club--- Sharing Our Winning Strategies
                                       About Our Directors

Lake Norman Soccer Club played under the banner of the Iredell County Rowdies in 1978 until several Classic Teams incorporated as the Iredell County Regional Soccer Association and joined the NCYSA in 1982.  The association incorporated with the State of North Carolina and qualified as a 501(c)(3).  In the 1998-1999 South Iredell Soccer Association (SISA) challenged by the growth of soccer in the area determined their mission was to focus on Recreational soccer.  Their Challenge program lead by Warren Weeks within the South Iredell Soccer Association (SISA) joined our Club and we became known as the Lake Norman Soccer Club (LNSC) in 2002.

Lake Norman Soccer currently represents over 600 soccer players and their families through the NCYSA. Our Club holds practices and plays games from Exit 33 to Exit 50 along I-77.  This year we are proud to announce that we offer 'year-round' training for our teams at Mooresville Intermediate School, Mooresville High Stadium and the Statesville Park and Soccer Complex determined by the geographic make up of our teams to minimize their travel expense.  In Spring 2010, Mooresville will open its own 6 field multi-purpose complex with two 'turf' fields on Mazzepa Road off HWY 115 between Mooresville and Exit 42 of I-77.  With completion of this complex, LNSC will be strategically located on the I-77 corridor equipped to provide arguably among the best soccer training in the area at these unique training venues: all within a reasonable commute from Rowan, Cabarrus, Catawba and Mecklenburg County.  Our programs include individual training and camps through our Center of Excellence each quarter, Pre-Academy for ages 5 through 8, Academy for ages 7 through 9, Challenge from ages 8 to 15 and Classic for ages 11 to 18.  We are proud to have teams that reach the Premier Division of the NCYSA Classic and our Carolina Eclipse teams for ages 14 and above playing in the Southern Region Soccer League of US Club Soccer.  Our tradition of excellence and success is being established on and off the field because of our Vision of “Making Goals… Shaping Lives—building skills for soccer and life.”

Our Mission is to provide a families, coaches, officials and families a soccer experience that emphasizes enjoyment and encourages the development our player’s skills, self confidence and character within a competitive environment to be leaders on and off the field.

Lake Norman Soccer is a caring organization of parents and staff with a strong sense of community evidenced in our support of the development of recreational soccer by providing clinics, coaching sessions and camps on Teacher Work Day and Spring Break Camps for area youth. We look forward to launch the Lake Norman Indoor Soccer League this Summer which will emphasize instruction for youth ages 5, 6, 7 & 8. LNSC also provides soccer sessions year-round for the children at the Barium Springs Children’s Home in Barium Springs as requested. It has been our greatest joy to see one of these challenged youth join and become a leader on one of our Classic teams.   We are thrilled to be able to provide financial assistance to talented players that would not be able to compete at the Challenge or Classic level without our Club’s commitment that money should not prevent a capable player from developing their potential.

The LNSC reputation for caring and excellence has lead to the partnership we enjoy with the Mooresville Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Statesville Parks and Recreation and The Mooresville City Schools. Together, we have been able to bring 5 soccer tournaments to Iredell County attracting over 20,000 players and supporters to the area each year. The tournaments include 3 State Cups, a Regional 3v3 Kick*IT Tournament and our own Annual Lake Norman Fall Classic.

Our highly qualified caoches at LNSC are led by our Staff of A and B Nationally Licensed Directors. Over 90% of team coaches are licensed under the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

LNSC Organization

LNSC has associate members, parents of players, who elect a representative for their team to serve as a voting member.  Individuals without a player affiliation or bussineses may pay an annual fee to be voting members.  The voting membership meets in May to review Strategic Direction, to review Financials and to elect a Board of Directors.

The Board of Directors meet monthly.  The Board is responsible for developing the Business Plan, approving objectives, strategiesand funding to support the LNSC Mission and adopting the policies and procedures to assure operationscomply with good business practices in accordance with its bylaws.

Within the Board of Directors is an Executive Committee who serve as the officers of the 501(c)(3) and oversee the day to day operations in accordance with the approved plans and with the consent of the Board.

The Staff is responsible for providing the leadership, instruction and training to support the development of the players, coaches and parents associated with LNSC soccer programs.  The Staff includes the Executive Director, the Business Manager, the Director of Soccer, the Directors of Coaching, the coaches and other paid staff.

LNSC Financing

LNSC relies on its members to fund the majority of the expenses of the Club. Additional funds are generated through hosting of the State Cups and sponsoring of the Lake Norman Fall Classic and providing training sessions and camps.  LNSC receives no public funding.

It is critical for the development and growth of the LNSC that private donations become a large part of the objectives to meet its goals and the needs ot the youth in theLake Norman area.  As a result, LNSC is reaching out to individual and corporate sponsors to assist in funding the needs of the Club and its participants.  The current needs are:  1) allowing growth through the development of a professional Staff,  2) attracting highly qualified coaching Staff,  3) providing for the continuing education of Staff, 4) providing equipment uniforms and facilities necessary to carry out the Mission of the Club, 5) providing scholarship funds for deseving players who need financial assitance to participate and 6) providing for the maintenance and development of fields to support youth soccer.

Economic Impact of LNSC

The economic impact to Iredell County and the surrounding area has been over $2.5 million every year since 2004.  LNSC tournaments  bring each year over 10,000 players, coaches and fans to Iredell County to stay in Hotels, to eat at Restaurants and to enjoy the hospitality of the Lake Norman area.
